IC694ALG223 is an Analog Current Input Module with 16 channels/single-ended inputs. Each input can be configured with the software provided for any of three input ranges: 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 20 mA, or 4 to 20 mA Enhanced.
Alarm limits are available in high and/or low on all ranges. In the 4 to 20 mA Enhanced range, a low alarm limit can detect input current from 4 mA to 0 mA, which provides open-wire fault detection in 4 to 20 mA applications. The module can report module status and external power status to the CPU using assigned program reference addresses. Installation of the IC694ALG223 module is consistent with any I/O slot in an RX3i system.
IC694ALG223 uses 120 mA from the 5 VDC bus on the PLC backplane and requires 65 mA plus current loop current(s) from a user-supplied +24 VDC supply.
The MODULE OK LED emits module status info on power-up. If the LED shows ON, then the status is OK, and the module is configured. If it shows OFF, then no backplane power is recognized, or the watchdog timer has timed out). Continuous rapid flashing: indicates that configuration data is not being received from the CPU. Slow flashes followed by OFF suggest failed power-up diagnostics or an encountered code execution error. The User Supply LED confirms that the external 24 VDC supply is within expected specifications.
The IC694ALG223 module’s configurable parameters include active channels, reference address for input data, length and range, low/high alarm, and I/O scan set.

The GE Fanuc IC694ALG223 RX3i PACSystems Analog Current Input Module is a solid-state, microprocessor-based industrial automation interface module whose main purpose is to receive the analog current signals emitted by industrial transmitters and/or transducers in the field and convert them into a digital data signal that the RX3i programmable logic controller will interpret and respond to accordingly. The GE Fanuc IC694ALG223 RX3i Analog Current Input Module can be configured to receive signals in the most frequently used current ranges, which are 4 to 20 milliamps, 0 to 20 milliamps, or 4 to 20 milliamps enhanced. This module is very simple to install, and the users will just need to find 1 available I/O slot in the RX3i programmable logic controller and proceed to insert the module until it clicks into place.
The GE Fanuc IC694ALG223 RX3i Analog Current Input Module draws its 5 Volts DC operation voltage from the RX3i programmable logic controller, and the input circuits need to be powered from an external 24 Volts DC power source. The maximum rated current is 120 milliamps from the backplane and 65 milliamps in the input circuits. The GE Fanuc IC694ALG223 RX3i Analog Current Input Module has 16 independent analog current inputs, each of which is user-programmable, not only regarding their predefined current range but also regarding additional parameters such as the low and high alarm limits, channel activation and deactivation, and I/O scan settings. The operating temperature of these analog current input modules should always remain within the 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) range.

Analog Input Fusing for Current Inputs 0-20mA and 4-20mA
Description
As a general rule, the GEIP Current Analog Inputs can be fused using a 25 mA fast blow fuse. Most analog transmitters will not fail and produce above 25 mA so this fuse value will protect the input circuit in the case of a serious failure or short circuit. Each input circuit typically contains a 1/4 watt 250 Ohm precision resistor and a Analog to Digital Converter that has some level of protection built in. The actual protection level can only be determined by the specific ADC specification sheet. Because these parts may change during production runs and be different between modules, the number is not published, however external fusing as close to 25 mA as possible should protect any GEIP input circuit.
Resolution
The IC693ALG223 and the IC694ALG223 have enough protection built in to easily allow a 32 mA fast blow fuse to be used.
