GE PACSystems RSTi is now under Emerson Automation. This Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) product family are highly scalable, modular and compact automation products. This controller platform features state-of-the art design and utilizes modern technology to implement highly reliable, easy to maintain, robust and rugged control system.
The PACSystems RSTi features controller modules that features an embedded ProfiNet advantage. With Profinet, I/O communication may be implemented, with advanced diagnostic data carried over an Ethernet cable medium. RSTi controllers are also embedded with advanced security, protecting industrial assets from remote unwanted access, especially controllers that is installed in applications with high level of criticality or handling sensitive plant or process information and data. RSTi controllers are designed with a small footprint however, controllers are embedded with Dual Ethernet communication port, Integrated RS232 communication port, compatible with a large variety of communication protocols such as Genius, Profibus, DeviceNet, CC-Link, MODBUS, CANopen, and other protocols. Controller also support other standards such as DNP3. User memory of RSTi controllers may reach up to 1.5 MB of non-volatile memory. These controllers are DIN rail mounted and takes only 1.5” of DIN rail space.
The PACSystems RSTi I/O, specialty and communication modules are equally packed with impressive features as the PACSystem RSTi controllers. I/O modules are easy to install, does not require special tools to terminate with size as big and wide as an adult’s index finger. Available modules include Ten (10) Discrete Input modules, Eight (8) Discrete Output modules, Nine (9) analog inputs, Two (2) analog outputs, Eight (8) Special Function modules, Seven (7) Power Modules, and a variety of accessories. These components allow the PACSystems RSTi to be fully customized to meet specific application requirements.
Communication adapters for implementing and connecting to different communication networks include ProfiNet IRT, ProfiNet system Redundancy, Ethernet I/P network adapter, EtherCat network adapter, MODBUS TCP, and ProfiBus DP V1 communication adapter. These adapters enables installation of an RSTi-EP station that are IEC61131-2 standard compliant. Up to 64 active I/O modules may be installed in one RSTi station or drop. Depending of the protocol used, the number of RSTis-EP station varies but it is guaranteed that the PACSystem RSTi Programmable Automation Controller Platform can accommodate large amount of Input and Output points.
Signal wiring are extremely fast to terminate. Standard terminals all come with a spring clamp terminals however, made even easier with the installed plunger on each of the terminals. Personnel does not need to insert a flathead screwdriver to poke the indie of the terminal instead, the plunger is gently pressed by the same tool to open the terminal to terminate the signal wire.
PACSystems RSTi supports controller redundancy and network redundancy. This redundancy feature effectively increases the system availability and process uptime as well as makes the system easier to maintain, upgrade and operate.
Proficy Machine Edition (PMEP programming software is used to program the PACSystem RSTi. This software is a Windows Operating system compatible application, that provides extensive tools and instructions sets that match the capabilities of the PACsystem RSTi hardware.
