Technical Information

The STXPBS432 module is an RSTi Profibus module manufactured by GE Fanuc/Emerson as a member of the RSTi PACSystems series, and it has sixteen 24 Volts DC rated sink positive logic inputs and sixteen 24 Volts DC source outputs. It supports expansion and it can be expanded with up to 8 additional modules. The RSTi I/O unit is color-coded to enhance easy module identification in a system. It also comes with a terminal block that is easy to remove maintenance and installation. Other characteristics include status LED indicators, a DIN rail locking and unlocking mechanism, and a secure module-to-module slide/lock connection mechanism. The STXPBS432 Profibus module features spring clamp wiring which allows for the use of the 14 AWG gauge wire. The Profinet network interface is integrated into the Proficy Machine Edition software.

 

The STXPBS432 RSTi Profibus module features an innovative design that enables the easy passing of communication, field power, and module power from module to module. Field Power Isolation, Power Booster, and Power Distribution modules come with this module as “dumb” modules, and they do not require any slot address. These dumb modules also come in smart module versions that have module ID and occupy addresses on the bus. Additionally, the smart modules offer extra diagnostics as well as extra status information. The system power of 24 Volts DC used by the STXPBS432 Profibus module should come from an automated power source and not the FieldBus power. This separation of the power sources allows the users to turn off the field power without interfering with the network interface. On the other hand, the network interface offers 5 Volts DC power to the corresponding input and output modules and each module passes 5 Volts DC to the next module.
