Technical Information

The STXPBS232 RSTi Profibus module comes with sink outputs rated at 24 Volts DC, and it has 32 output points. This unit is expandable with 8 extra modules. It is a product of GE Fanuc/Emerson and it belongs to the RSTi PACSystems series of products. Some of this unit's main features are LED status indicators, connection test points, and an easy to remove terminal block. It also features color-coding that enhances module identification. This unit features advanced diagnostics and built-in test points on the terminal block to improve the troubleshooting process. This unit has a PROFINET network interface which is compactly integrated into the Proficy Machine Edition software. The device also features a unique locking mechanism that ensures that it is properly secured on the DIN rail. Other notable features include a terminal block which can be detached for easy maintenance and installation.

 

Generally, RSTi devices, including the STXPBS232 Profibus module, feature an innovative design that enables the module power, field power, and communication data to pass from one module to the other. The users can access the power booster, field power isolation, and power distribution modules in the form of “dumb” modules. The dumb modules do not need a slot address, but the smart modules each come with module IDs and they occupy an address on the bus. Additionally, the smart modules provide more status information and additional diagnostics to the STXPBS232 Profibus module. The field power rating on the network interface of the STXPBS232 Profibus module is 24 Volts DC, and it is passed from a single module to the other. The field power bus has a maximum current of 10 Amps.
