Technical Information

The STXMBS001 network adapter is an RSTi Modbus RS-232C slave network adapter made by GE Fanuc with a 24 Volts DC input module that is expandable with 32 modules. The STXMBS001 network adapter and its module takes advantage of the EtherCAT technology to maximize the end user experience. The TF6280 TwinCAT EtherNet/IP slave device enables data exchange with an EtherNet/IP master device. This device supports both broadcast and multicast functions as an Ethernet adapter or IP adapter. It is possible to connect one master with 8 slaves or 8 masters to 8 slaves in a system. This means that the master device can be used with different cycle times or allow more data to be transported. In an Ethernet/IP network, the TF6280 device acts as a slave device with no additional configuration required. For proper configuration with the RSTi Modbus RS-232C slave device to happen, the users must gather the case numbers, the length of the information, the IP address, and the right process duration time.

 

The IP addresses in the system that the GE Fanuc STXMBS001 network adapter is part of can be configured freely and assigned freely as long as the master's network class and the master device have the same address. Rerouting the gateway may be necessary. In the master device, the assembly instance number is permanently assigned, including the process image and data size numbers. The task cycle time should not exceed that of the master, and it tends to be a part of the master cycle time, i.e., when the master timing is 10 milliseconds, the task cycle time will be 10 milliseconds (5, 2, or 1 milliseconds). When using the STXMBS001 network adapter, up to 8 slaves can be physically parametrized on the surface.
