Technical Information

The ST-5642 Motion Control Module is a dual-channel, pulse output motion module designed by GE Fanuc. It is used for providing pulse train output for small control applications. The ST-5642 Motion Control Module comes with advanced diagnostics features such as short-circuit protection for quickly identifying errors in the system while also ensuring easy troubleshooting. Its removable terminal assembly is a plug-and-play terminal assembly that consists of spring clamp terminals that accept AWG 14 gauge cables. Terminals 0 and 2 provide 2 pulse output channels and Terminals 1 and 3 provide 2 pulse direction output channels. Terminals 4 and 5 are common terminals and Terminals 6 and 7 are reserved for the 24 Volts DC rated field power wiring.   

 

The ST-5642 Motion Control Module comes with 20 kilohertz of pulse output frequency. Some of the general specifications of the module include photocoupler I/O to logic side isolation, and 150 milliamps of power dissipation at 5 Volts DC. It weighs 70 grams and it measures 12 x 99 x 70 millimeters. It also provides 0.5 Amps of output current per channel. The bus contacts are located at the top of the module and the field power contacts are located at the bottom of the module. The ST-5642 Motion Control Module is a source type pulse output module that uses positive logic. The field wiring can be done easily by simply pushing the cables into spring terminals. The Proficy Machine Edition software package can be used to configure the module. It supports vertical and horizontal mounting on the DIN rail.
