Technical Information

The GE Fanuc ST-5231 module is a serial interface and RS-485 communication module from the PACSystems RSTi series, which is part of the GE Intelligent Platforms series. It is a 1-channel module. This module has 3 transfer channels, including half-duplex, RxD, and TxD channels, with a transfer rate from 300 to 115,200. It has a Data bit with 8-bit and 7-bit options, a Stop bit with 2-bit and 1-bit options, and a Parity Bit with “None” and “Odd and Even'' options. The ST-5231 module has a bit distortion of less than 1.6 percent. It has a spring-clamp RTB and a cable length of 1 kilometer for twisted pair cable. The serial interface module has an RxD buffer of 1024 bytes and a TxD buffer of 256 bytes. It has an input image size of 6 bytes and an output image size of 6 bytes.

 

The ST-5231 serial interface module has a power dissipation of 110 milliamps at 5 Volts DC. It has an operating temperature range between -20 and 55 degrees Celsius and a non-operating temperature range between -40 and 85 degrees Celsius. The ST-5231 module has an operating altitude of 2000 meters and relative humidity range from 5 percent to 95 percent (non-condensing). The module has dimensions of 1.2 by 9.9 by 7 centimeters. The module’s operational shock is 30 g, while the non-operational shock is 50 g, and it has a vibration of 20 g at 10 to 500 kilohertz. When handling the module, avoid exposing it to temperatures above 55 degrees Celsius or placing it in direct sunlight.
