The ST-5221 is a remote input/output (I/O) special module of the Crevis FnIO S-Series of slice type system configuration. It is a 1-channel serial communication module that supports RS 422. The interface design of ST-5221 features bus contacts, 8 pins numbered 0 to 7, and field power contacts. Pin number description are as follows: number 0: TxD+, number 1: TxD-, number 2: RxD+, number 3: RxD-, number 4: GND; number 5: GND; number 6: Shield; number 7: shield. When the RxD status LED is green that means data is received. When the TxD status LED light is green, data is transmitted.

The ST-5221 has an active lifecycle status. Its protocol is supported by ASCII, TxD, RxD, and full duplex transfer channels. If features a spring clamp terminal block interface connector type. The baud (or transfer) rate is 300 to 115,200 bps. The ST-5221’s data bit is 7bit, 8bit or 9bit. The parity bit is either none, odd, or even. The stop bit options are 1bit and 2bit. There is under 1.6% bit distortion. The valid parameter length for ST-5221 is 4 bytes. There is no memory register. The input/output (I/O) data size specification is 6 Bytes In/6 Bytes Out. RxD buffer is 1024 Bytes, while TxD buffer is 256 Bytes. The maximum internal power used at 5 VDC loading is 155mA. The isolation voltage is 1,000Vrms/Vac. Line impedance is 120Ω. The ST-5221 specialty module measures 99mm in height, 12mm in width and 70mm in depth dimensions. Cable length is 1km (twisted pair.)
