Technical Information

The GE Fanuc ST-5212 module is a serial interface module or RS-232 communication module from the PACSystems RSTi and GE Intelligent Platforms series. It has 2 input channels. The module has an input image size of 12 bytes and an output image size of 12 bytes. The system power dissipation is 110 milliamps at 5.0 Volts DC. It has 3 transfer channels, including the RxD, TxD, and full duplex channels. They have a transfer rate ranging from 300 to 11,500 bytes. The ST-5212 serial interface module has an RxD buffer of 1024 bytes and a TxD buffer of 256 bytes. The maximum cable length for the module is 15 meters and the connection mechanism for the RTB is a spring clamp mechanism. It has a high signal voltage of +3 Volts to +18 Volts and a low signal voltage of -18 Volts to -3 Volts.

 

The ST-5212 serial interface module has a Data Bit feature with 7-bit and 8-bit options, and a Parity Bit feature with “None,” “Odd and Even,” and “Stop Bit” options with 1-bit and 2-bit formats. It has distortion levels of less than 1.6%. The module uses RTS and CTS lines to handle flow control. When the serial interface module is ready to receive data, it sends a CTS (Clear To Send) signal to the CPU, and when the CPU has anything to send, it sends an RTS (Ready To Send) signal and awaits the CTS's return signal. If the CTS signal indicates that the module can receive the data, the CPU will send the data. This module has dimensions of 12 millimeters x 99 millimeters x 70 millimeters and a maximum operating altitude of 2000 meters. It has an operating temperature range of -20 to +55 degrees Celsius and a non-operating temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius.
