The GE Fanuc ST-3118 is an analog input module. The purpose of analog I/O modules is to allow the operator to have better control over analog actuators.

There is a range of different types of analog input modules available with varying voltage and current signals. This provides operators with a wide selection to choose the module best suited to their needs.

The ST-3118 model is a 12-bit module with 8 channels.  The input channels are differential inputs and the module has a current signal of 0-20 mA. This input signal is electrically isolated by the module.

The unit has one LED to indicate the status of the network. If it is flashing red, there has been a time-out or failed connection. A steady red light indicates a fault with the device.

If you want to have more stability, it is recommended that operators use a separate power supply to run analog input modules such as the ST-3118.
