Made by GE Intelligent Platforms, the IC754VGI06STD is 6-inch display PC from the QuickPanel series. This small computer is capable of operating as a standalone interface or a controller for a variety of networking applications. The operating system running this device is Windows CE.NET, and the processor is a 300MHz Intel PXA255. Windows CE.NET operates on a 32-bit architecture and is familiar to other Microsoft operating systems such as Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows 2000. This device uses the Win32 API, making other versions of Windows that also use Win32 compatible with this panel.
The physical specifications for this computer are as follows: Height is 4.852 inches, or 123.2 mm; 6.14 inches wide, or 156mm; 2.76 inches deep, or 70mm; and weight is 2.5 pounds, or 1.16kg. The IC754VGI06STD has two options for cutout size: small and large. This device runs on a 12 to 30 VDC power supply with 12 W of real power. To run this product, simply connect the power supply and begin setup configuration. Additional startup controls are available via DIP switches.
Memory for this computer is composed of four types, some of which share responsibilities such as housing the operating system and user data. Flash memory has a capacity of 32 megabytes and is non-volatile. Static RAM (SRAM) has a capacity of 512 kilobytes, is sustained by a lithium battery, and is volatile. Dynamic RAM (DRAM) has a capacity of 32 megabytes and is upgradable to a maximum capacity of 96 megabytes via a 100-MHz or better expansion bus. ROM (Read Only Memory) has a capacity of 512 kilobytes and stores the software instructions needed to start the device.
Operation of this computer panel is accomplished via a 5.75 inch, or 14.6cm, touchscreen capable of displaying both STN color and FSTN monochrome. With STN, up to 65,536 colors are supported, and FSTN is capable of displaying up to 256 different shades of gray. The resolution for this display screen is 320 x 240 pixels. For optimal use of the touchscreen, a stylus pointing device is recommended; however, using a finger is acceptable.
The IC754VGI06STD has the following expansion and communication ports for additional flexibility: one Ethernet port, one serial port, one type 2 flash memory port, and one expansion bus. The Ethernet port supports 10/100BaseT communications, along with a 30-meter CAT 5 cable. This device does not support USB connections.
