Product Description


Made by GE Intelligent Platforms, the IC754VBI12CTD is a display and control QuickPanel ideal for use in industrial and automation environments. This device is a small yet flexible control computer and can operate as a single component or networked device. It is operated primarily by a 12-in touchscreen with a Graphical User Interface; however, an external USB mouse and keyboard can also be used if necessary. A 32-bit edition of Windows CE is used for this panel. This operating system functions similarly to Windows 95 through Windows XP.

 

Features of this product include the ability to load web pages with the Pocket Internet Explorer application and the capability to interact with and configure device memory and storage with the Storage Manager utility. Pocket Internet Explorer, a web browsing application embedded into the system, can also be configured to use a proxy server for Internet access. FTP servers are also supported.

 

A 300MHz processor powers this device, and this computer has various types of memory, some of which are expandable. Part of the Windows operating system is located in both flash memory and dynamic memory (DRAM), which is 32mb each. There is also 512kb of static RAM. Boot instructions are contained in ROM.

 

The IC754VBI12CTD is ready for operation after a few standard configuration steps are complete. Plug in the DC power and turn on the computer. A “splash screen” will soon appear. To avoid loading StartUp programs, click “Don’t Run Startup Programs.” Otherwise, the “splash screen” prompt will fade after programs are loaded. From there, click the Start menu and navigate to the Control Panel. From the Control Panel, configure the LCD display, the touchscreen, the system clock, the device hostname to be used on the local network, and the network connection settings. Connection to a network is possible via Ethernet or dial up.
