Technical Information

The GE Fanuc IC660MPH509 plate is a mounting plate. The IC660MPH509 mounting plate is required when connecting a handheld monitor to the Genius Bus Controller (GBC). The GBC does not include an integrated connector for a handheld monitor, but a handheld monitor can be interfaced to the Genius serial bus at any desired location. A D-shell connector is supplied with the handheld monitor and the installation of this connector requires the IC660MPH509 mounting plate. The procedure for the installation is as follows: cut one opening in the panel using the IC660MPH509 plate as a template, attach the IC660MPH509 mounting plate and the mating connector to the panel, secure both the serial cable ends to the backside of the panel, and finally strip the wire ends and make the appropriate connections.

 

The purpose of the GBC is to provide an interface between Genius I/O serial bus and a Series 90-30 PLC. The GBC receives/transmits control data for a maximum of 31 devices on the Genius bus. A Genius serial bus can be used to serve I/O blocks, remote drops, field control I/O stations, handheld monitors, and multiple host devices. The handheld monitor can be mounted permanently and it can also be used as a portable tool. The handheld monitor can be employed for I/O module setup, monitoring, and diagnostics. Older handheld monitors can be upgraded by upgrading the firmware stored in the PROM on the unit. The handheld monitor features an LCD screen and a keypad. The operating temperature range for the handheld monitor is from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. When fully charged, the handheld monitor can be used for a duration of 6 hours.

 The final letter in the part number (ex. IC660MPH509K) indicates the revision. Revision K or later use the newer style electronic housing and therefore needs the newer style plastic door and may indicate some compatibility issues with the terminal strip.
