Product Description

The IC660BBD100 is a 115 VAC 8-Circuit Grouped I/O block from the GE Automation Intelligent Platform Series manufactured by GE Fanuc. The IC660BBD100 contains eight independent discrete circuits assembled in a single group with an operations rating of 115 volts AC. Each independent circuit is capable of functioning as an input, tri-state input, or output. A separate power supply is not required for this block as the power controller tapers off from the input/output device voltages wired to the terminals of the IC660BBD100 block.

The dimensions are 8.83” (22.44cm) x 3.5” (8.89cm) x 3.94” (10.00cm) with a weight of 4lbs. (1.8kg).  If a CPU, bus interface, or network cable experiences a communication failure, the Genius blocks are designed to be the reliable operations system hosted over a network – the Genius LAN. This network allows the blocks to communicate with the system CPU. If two or more CPUs are operating concurrently in a redundant configuration, the Genius blocks will automatically switch to a backup CPU if there is a communication failure with the main controller.

Considered "open equipment," Genius I/O blocks must be installed within a protective housing and should be located in an area with suitable cooling airflow that is airborne contaminant free. A temperature of zero to +60 C (32 to +140 F) is required for operation, and a temperature of -40 to +100 C (-40 to 212 F) is required for storage. Humidity should not be lower than 5% or exceed 95% (non-condensing). It is not necessary to remove field wiring or reconfigure the block when replacing the block’s electronics assembly with a compatible model. The IC660CBD100 is backward compatible with the IC660BBD100 and can be used as an alternative or replacement.

Customer Questions and Answers

  • Question: What is an IC660BBD100? Answer:  The IC660BBD100 is a 115 VAC, 8-Circuit Grouped I/O Block of the GE Fanuc Genius I/O Series. This block has one group of 8 discrete circuits that are rated to operate at a nominal 115 volts AC.
  • Question:  What can each circuit be?  Answer:  Each circuit can be an input, a tristate input, or an output.
  • Question:  Why is no separate block power supply needed for IC660BBD100?  Answer:  No separate block power supply is needed because control power for the block is tapped off the input/output device voltages that are wired to the terminals.
  • Question:  What are some of the features that are up for configuration?  Answer:
    • Output Pulse Test capability
    • Selectable Input Filter Time from 10 mS to 100 mS
    • Output power up defaults
    • Output Hold Last State or default
    • CPU Redundancy type
    • Bus Switching module control
  • Question:  What does each circuit have?  Answer:  Each circuit has electronic fusing that shuts down the circuit if the output current exceeds 30 amps at turn-on or 20 amps after 2 cycles. However, the circuit is easily restored by command from a Hand-Held Monitor or the CPU.
  • Question:  So, IC660BBD100 is compatible with a HHM, correct?  Answer:  Yes, it is.
  • Question:  Can IC660BBD100 be used with a bus controller?  Answer:  Yes. IC660BBD100 can be used with any GE Fanuc bus controller.
  • Question:  If my IC660BBD100 has failed, what is my next step?  Answer:  Your IC660BBD100 may need repair

For more information on the IC660BBD100 8-Circuit Grouped I/O Block of the GE Fanuc Genius I/O Series, please see the Datasheet User-Manual.

IC660BBD100 is a Phase B GE Genius block and is compatible with all GENIUS supported PLC systems. The earlier version- IC660CBD100 is a Phase A GE Genius Block and is only compatible with Series Six and Series Five PLCs.

The final letter in the part number (ex. IC660BBD100K) indicates the revision. Revision K and later use the newer style electronic housing and therefore need the newer style plastic door and may indicate some compatibility issues with the terminal strip.
