Product Description

IC660BBA100 is an analog I/O Block from the GE Genius series. The block has a rated voltage of 115 VAC Voltage/Current. The IC660BBA100 block has four independent input circuits and two independent output circuits. This block is quite flexible, which allows compatibility with a wide variety of analog I/O devices. Each circuit on IC660BBA100 Block can either receive or deliver signals in any of these five analog ranges: -5 volts DC to +5 volts DC, -10 volts DC to +10 volts DC, 0-5 volts DC, or 4-20 mA/1-5 volts DC, 0-10 volts DC. The first four circuits on IC660BBA100 are inputs. The input circuits share one 12 bit analog to digital (A/D) converter. The block in-return converts each input signal current to a digital count value. It then translates the counted value to an integer that represents the engineering units for that particular input.

The other remaining two are output circuits served by a 12 bit digital to analog (D/A) converter. IC660BBA100 block then converts the engineering units output received from the processor to a digital count value. It then converts the counted value to an output signal voltage. Accuracy is within 50mV on the 10V range and 5mV on the 5V range and 100uA on the 4-20mA range.  The block’s internal power supply conveniently drives the current mode outputting loads of up to 300 Ohms each. An external 24 or 48 VDC power supply is required for loads up to 2K Ohms.

Other IC660BBA100 features include the ability to independently scale for each individual input and output; the ability to either enable or disable fault reports to the host for each input and output; inputs that can function either in normal analog input mode, or report just its alarm status; low and high alarm limits for each input both in normal input mode and alarm input mode; power default values for both output; outputs that can consequently be configured to hold last state or default if communication from the processor is lost; and input Low Alarm and High Alarm detection.  IC660BBA100 can be used alongside any handheld monitor. However, if using handheld monitor model IC66HHM501, the baud rate configuration must be changed or have redundancy features configured.

The IC660BBA100 Genius I/O block is a GE Fanuc analog I/O block with 4 voltage inputs and 2 current outputs. It is powered with a nominal voltage of 115 Volts AC. It is installed with the terminal assembly of the Genius I/O PLC system. The analog I/O block comes in a compact size with dimensions of 8.83 inches in height, 3.34 inches in width, and 3.91 inches in depth. It weighs 4 pounds. The front side of the IC660BBA100 block has an LED indicator that shows the “Unit OK” status and “I/O Enabled” status during operation. With an open enclosure, the block is designed for indoor use only. A block to block isolation voltage is present and it is rated at 1500 Volts RMS. The heat dissipation of the module under normal conditions is 6 Watts. The common mode rejection rating of the analog module is 60 dB and the common mode voltage is set at +/-170 Volts. The analog block has a 12-bit input resolution and the input update frequency takes place every 4 milliseconds.

The IC660BBA100 analog I/O block provides independent scaling for each input and output channel. The fault reporting to the host device can be easily enabled and disabled for an individual input or output. The selectable input filter time goes up to 1024 milliseconds. The IC660BBA100 analog I/O block has a thermal drift of 10 PPM at 25 degrees Celsius. The analog block’s outputs can be configured to hold the last state that they were in or to return to the default state if the CPU communication is lost. For wiring connections, the block uses 12 AWG wire. The block is backward compatible with older versions. It can be easily mounted using the screws on the back of the block.

Customer Questions and Answers

  • Question:  What is an IC660BBA100?  Answer:  The IC660BBA100 is an 115 VAC Voltage/Current Analog I/O Block from the GE Fanuc Genius I/O Series. This block has 4 independent input circuits and 2 independent output circuits.
  • Question:   What is the difference between IC660BBA100 and IC660BBA020?  Answer:  The only difference between these blocks is their power supply.
  • Question:   Can I use the IC660HHM501 Hand Held Monitor for the configuration of IC660BBA100?  Answer:  Yes, you can.
  • Question:   What should the baud rate be set at when configuring this block?  Answer:  It should be set at 153.6K standard.
  • Question:   When I press the leads against "in" and "return", what should be happening?  Answer:  You should be looking for a reading and if all the values of all your settings are the same then all your readings should be the same. (Tip: Make certain that all the screws are screwed down very tight to make sure the connections can happen accurately.)
  • Question:  When checking the output, where should the black and red leads go?  Answer:  Black should be on common and red (or positive) should be on voltage out.
  • Question:  What is important about checking the outputs?  Answer:  It is important to make sure that the output can be on or off whatever value that you put in it.
  • Question:   When you have the CPU in run mode, what should happen?  Answer:  The Enabled LED should come on to let you know the block is enabled. This also means that the port is communicating. It lets you know the block is working properly and if you want to, you can force the inputs and outputs off or on using Proficy Machine Edition.
  • Question:  What would indicate something is wrong with my IC660BBA100?  Answer:  If you power it up and it doesn't have any lights on at all, then your IC660BBA100 may need repair

For more information on the IC660BBA100 Voltage/Current Analog I/O Block of the GE Fanuc Genius I/O Series, please see the Datasheet User-Manual.

IC660BBA100 is a Phase B GE Genius block and is compatible with all GENIUS supported PLC systems. The earlier version- IC660CBA100 is a Phase A GE Genius Block and is only compatible with Series Six and Series Five PLCs.

The final letter in the part number (ex. IC660BBA100K) indicates the revision. Revision K and later use the newer style electronic housing and therefore need the newer style plastic door and may indicate some compatibility issues with the terminal strip.
