Technical Information

The IC640WMI610 interface board is an Emerson/GE Fanuc Series Six Interface Board for Workstation computers. It offers high-speed parallel communication between a Series Six PLC and Workstation industrial computer. The interface board has all the circuitry required to transfer and format data between the Series Six PLC’s central processing unit or CPU and the Workstation computer. It has no PROM or non-volatile memory functions. The on-board RAM that it has is used for loading the programs. The IC640WMI610 interface board has no jumpers or operator controls of its own. Every interface to the board works through software. The parallel nature of the interface board allows for the display of real-time updates for the Series Six PLC’s status. The installation of interface board and the terminator board in the Workstation computer protects the system against surges that may occur as a result of incorrect AC wiring between the PLC and the Workstation computer. The interface board and terminator board are connected to the computer by using a 34-wire ribbon cable.

 

The IC640WMI610 interface board requires a full-length slot in the Workstation computer. It has a power requirement of 5 Volts DC that is supplied by the Workstation computer. For it to work efficiently and effectively, it requires an operating temperature ranging from -40 to 80 degrees Celsius (40 to 176 degrees Fahrenheit) and a storage temperature range of 0 to 70 degrees Celsius (32 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit). The IC640WMI610 interface board has a maximum operating altitude of up to 2,000 meters (6,600 feet) above sea level. It has a non-condensing ambient relative humidity range of 5 to 95 percent. It has conformed to noise and transient immunity ratings as per the NEMA ICS 2230.40 standards.
