Technical Information

The IC600CB514 communications control module is a Type 1 communications control module by GE Fanuc Automation that belongs to the GE Fanuc Series Six product line. This module supports different modes of communication, including peer, slave, and master communications. It also features the Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) mode of operation, which is a slave/master protocol. The module is designed and intended to link PLCs with a computer, process controller, and other intelligent devices that use the RTU protocol. Only the master protocol can be used to initiate the communications request when the RTU mode is used. The GE Fanuc IC600CB514 communications control module is configurable as a slave unit for operating in the RTU mode. It supports both the CCM and RTU slave communication modes. 

 

The GE Fanuc IC600CB514 communications control module contains 2 different communication ports, 4 LED indicators, and 2 switches that enhance the connection, control, and status display of this module. The Type 2 GE communications control modules support 2 modes of operation, which are operation with the Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) or operation with the CCM protocol. However, the GE IC600CB514 Type 1 communications control module is designed to provide a serial interface between the PLCs from GE Series Six and other intelligent devices which support communication according to the RTU and CCM protocols as well as the requirements of the CCM electrical interface, making it more flexible than the Type 2 communications control modules and suitable for more applications than the latter communications control modules.
