Type S Thermocouple Input Module (8 points) Series Six Board with Face Plate IC600BF IC600B

Technical Information

The GE Fanuc IC600BF815 thermocouple input module (Type S) is a microprocessor-based input module that is designed to detect low-level analog inputs from thermocouple devices. This module belongs to the GE Series Six thermocouple module family, and these modules can be supplied in any of the 7 available versions (Type J, K+, S, T, B, E, and R) and they are used in applications like chemical processing, annealing furnaces, and injection molding applications. The IC600BF815 thermocouple input module contains two 4-channel conditioners that can be configured for use with any of the 7 thermocouple versions as well as providing low-level signal conditioning such as high common-mode rejection, 1000 Volts DC isolation, input filtering, and very low drift amplification.

The IC600BF815 thermocouple input module has 8 isolated inputs that are capable of receiving low-level signals from field devices (thermocouples). It has a microprocessor board, which scales, linearizes, and converts this input into temperature data (Celsius or Fahrenheit). The onboard microprocessor has a programmable-gain amplifier that maintains signal quality, and a 13-bit analog to digital converter that converts analog inputs from thermocouple devices to digital temperature values for the CPU. The GE Series Six CPU receives the converted temperature data in either the sign-magnitude or 2’s complement data format. It supports the connection of external Cold Junction Compensation (CJC) elements for compensation of lost thermoelectric voltage and the elimination of ice-point reference function. The IC600BF815 thermocouple input module can be installed on either the GE Series Six I/O rack or in a single slot of the Series 60 CPU rack. The IC600BF815 thermocouple input module has multiple DIP switches for configuring various module functions, and it is designed to be calibrated once every 6 months.
