About GE Series One
GE Series One is a compact controller that is designed to implement automated control of small and some mid-range applications. The Series One controller directly contributes in increasing reliability of the control system, ease of maintenance and modification. The Series One Programmable Controller is designed with a small form factor, capable of fitting into tight panel spaces. The Series Programmable Controller is fully programmable and the device’ modularity allows it to be reused for different applications.
The Series one controller’s compact design features a controller that is embedded to a Five (5) slot rack. This can rack serves as the CPU rack which has a user memory amounting to 1700 Words of user program. This user memory is maintained by a Lithium battery that provides power to the CMOS Random Access Memory (RAM) when power is not supplied to the controller. The also supports installation of an expansion memory that is a Programmable Read-Only Memory (PROM) that works as the controller’s non-volatile memory which may be configured to load programs after every power cycle.
The Series One controller can accommodate up to 112 Input and Output points, 64 I/O points in the CPU rack and the remaining 48 along the expansion I/O rack. It supports standard Series One modules that can be replaced and installed without disturbing nearby modules and existing field signal wirings. Up to Three (3) expansion rack may be installed. Additionally, Remote I/O architecture may be implemented wherein I/O modules can be placed near the signal source or actuating element as the Remote I/O rack may be installed 1km away from the CPU rack. This may be done by installing a Link Local module to the CPU rack and a Link Remote module to each of the Remote I/O rack.
Additionally, the Series One controller features an updated controller, named as Series One Model E Programmable Controller. This controller is an enhanced version of the past controller, that boasts of an improved and faster scan rate with 8 mSec scan time for a O.5K word program; 12 mSec scan time for a l.0K program and 15 mSec scan time for a 1.7K word program. This controller also boast of a faster data communication with the use of IC61OCCMlOO or the IC61OCCM105 Data Communications Unit. Controller online connection, I/O access time and scan time, timer and counter data are accessed faster with the use of this communication devices.
The Series One Controllers may be programmed and configured using Logic Master 1 Programming software or with the use of a Hand-Held programmer. Both provides configuration, testing and commissioning tools for fast engineering of the controller. The Logic Master 1 may be installed in a Work Master computer, CIMSTAR or IBM Personal computers.
A series One controller has a built-in Power supply that is used to energize the controller’s local circuitry. This Power supply operates with 100VAC and 200VAC voltage categories, with nominal supply of 115V/230 Vac, +/- 15% along a frequency of 47-63 Hz. The series One controller has 144 internal coils, 4 special function coils, 28 Retentive Coils, 64 4-Digit counter and timers, 128 Shift Register stages, and 64 at 1000 steps sequencers.
