Technical Information

The IC655MEM513 Memory Cartridge is a 16K EPROM manufactured by GE Fanuc for the GE Series Five PLC modules. It comes with a UV erasable memory. The IC655MEM513 Memory Cartridge has a low current consumption rating when it is operating under system power, specifically a consumption rating of 20 milliamps. The power for the module is supplied by an internal 5 Volts DC rated power supply. The users have the facilities to easily store different user programs in different cartridges and to use them as required. The previously programmed memory can be erased from the device by using ultraviolet light exposure. By default, this memory module is shipped in the erased state.         

 

The IC655MEM513 Memory Cartridge contains an EPROM unit that can be used to store a program. The memory protection jumper of the module must be in the “write unprotected” position to write the user program to the memory. The CPU has diagnostic facilities that are used to identify EPROM failure. The memory cartridge of the CPU can be accessed by opening the top-hinged door on the front of the CPU. There is a “PULL” label on the plastic strip of the cartridge which can be used to pull the cartridge out of the slot. However, do not remove or insert the memory cartridge with the power on. When installing a new cartridge, make sure to slide the cartridge firmly into the slot until it plugs into the connectors which are at the back of the slot. If the IC655MEM513 Memory Cartridge is moved to another system, the bus controller parameters must be configured again since they are stored inside the memory cartridge.
