Memory Cartridge 8K CPU/24K ABM EPROM MEM512 Series Five IC655MEM5 IC655MEM51
The IC655MEM512 Memory Cartridge is an 8K or 24K CPU EPROM that belongs to GE Series Five series of PLCs and PLC components. The IC655MEM512 Memory Cartridge has a UV erasable memory. Once a program is loaded to the CPU, the source code of the program is stored in the buffer area of this memory cartridge. The stored program name, the dates, and the timestamps can be read by using the Logicmaster 5 software. This programmable read-only memory device is a fast and low power device that can be programmed by using a GE Series Five OIU. Its retentive features eliminate the need for a back-up battery during a power loss. The content inside the memory module can be easily examined, but additional actions need to be taken to write the content to the memory.
The IC655MEM512 Memory Cartridge has a memory protection jumper that can be set to the “write unprotected” position to store a copy of the user program in the CPU. If the diagnostic service of the CPU identifies an EPROM failure, the error code will be stored in register 5, bit 12 of the diagnostic information tables. Make sure to set the CPU to the “STOP” mode before replacing the memory cartridge. The IC655MEM512 Memory Cartridge can be easily removed from the CPU by firmly pulling it out from the slot. Remove the power from the module before inserting or removing the cartridge. During installation, carefully slide the cartridge into the slot unit it plugs into the connectors by orienting it so that the “PULL” label on the plastic strip is facing towards the top of the CPU to ensure easy removal.
