Technical Information

The GE Fanuc IC655MDL551 module is an I/O module with 16 N-MOS FET, open drain type output circuits. The output circuits are internally grouped into 2 groups and each group has a single common connection. The maximum current per group is 4 Amps and the maximum current per circuit is 2 Amps. The maximum rated value for the current per common is 10 Amps and the maximum rated current for the IC655MDL551 module is 20 Amps. The IC655MDL551 I/O module is a 24 Volts DC negative output logic module with a peak voltage of 40 Volts DC per output circuit and a typical operating voltage range of 4.5 to 26.4 Volts DC for each output circuit. The peak leakage current value is 0.1 milliamps at 40 Volts DC.

 

The output circuits on the IC655MDL551 I/O module can be used for controlling user loads. One LED is provided per circuit on the module. The LEDs have a dual purpose. In addition to displaying the status of the individual circuits, the LEDs can also be used to display the starting I/O address of the IC655MDL551 module. A removable terminal block is provided on the IC655MDL551 module and the field wiring for all the circuits terminates on this terminal block. A user-provided power supply rated for 24 Volts DC and capable of supplying 9 milliamps of current per output is required for powering up the user loads and the output circuits. One common source or 2 independent sources can be used for the 2 groups of output circuits. The typical internal power consumption rating of the IC655MDL551 I/O module is 150 milliamps and it can reach a maximum value of 170 milliamps.
