Technical Information

The IC655BEM500 interface is a local I/O interface manufactured by GE Fanuc. It acts as a medium between the PLC units and the Genius I/O bus. It offers different communication capabilities on the network. It is powered with a 24 Volts DC power supply. It can work with discrete I/O, analog I/O, and different ASCII modules. The IC655BEM500 I/O interface has a removable door on the side that gives easy access to the replacement fuses, DIP switches, and configuration units. The front section has a hinged door that gives access to the monitoring port that connects with the operator interface terminal and programmer devices. The terminal block for connecting the field wiring is also present behind the door. The IC655BEM500 interface is designed with a small form factor and it saves panel space.

 

The I/O modules can connect to the backplane by using a single connector on the module that is mounted on the base unit behind each I/O slot. The front section of the module has different LED indicators that show different information. There are LED indicators for blown fuses, the output module status, a loose or missing terminal block, when there is no voltage, and the on/off status of the I/O points. The IC655BEM500 interface supports I/O module keying. The modules can be mechanically keyed to prevent the accidental connection of a removable terminal block to a different module. The power should be fully disconnected from the base unit during the installation of the I/O interface. The I/O modules should also be firmly pushed into the base unit connector.
