Technical Information

The IC655ALG516 analog input module is manufactured by GE Fanuc as part of the GE Series Five product line. It comes with 8 input channels and it is made to be used as part of a GE Series Five PLC or programmable logic controller. Like other components of the GE Series Five PLC, it is made to be a mid-range and compact device. The GE Series Five PLC and its components can handle a wide variety of industrial machine control applications and they are made to operate safely in harsh and demanding environments. The specific purpose of the IC655ALG516 analog input module in the PLC is to convert the electrical signals from field input devices such as switches and sensors into different logic levels that the PLC’s CPU can process.

 

Additionally, the GE Fanuc Series Five IC655ALG516 analog input module and the other I/O modules around it can provide the CPU in the PLC with electrical isolation for its signals. This electrical isolation shields the CPU from the electrical noise that is common in industrial environments and that can interfere with important electrical signals if steps are not taken to protect signals and devices against it. The IC655ALG516 analog input module and its neighboring I/O modules use a power supply that is separate from the CPU’s power supply. The GE Series Five PLCs and their components are designed to combine the features of the GE Series One, Series Three, and Series Six Plus PLCs together into 1 streamlined and efficient control system.
