Battery for CPU and ASCII/Basic Module ACC550 IC655ACC5 IC655ACC55
The IC655ACC550 battery is a lithium battery that has been designed and manufactured by GE Fanuc to act as the backup battery for the central processing unit or CPU in a GE Series Five PLC. There is a large hinged door on every GE Series Five CPU, and the IC655ACC550 lithium battery is made to be mounted on the back of it. The battery then connects to the CPU with a 4-pin connector that is located directly below the “reset” pushbutton for the CPU. The IC655ACC550 lithium battery can back up several of the CPU’s different functions and devices, including the retentive coils and tables, the real-time clock and calendar, the registers for data storage that are user-accessible, and the scratch pad that stores all of the system’s operating parameters.
The GE Fanuc CPU IC655ACC550 lithium battery is easy to replace when its power gets low. When its power gets low and it can no longer function properly, the “BATT” LED on the PLC will illuminate to alert the operators about the situation. The operators should replace the battery as soon as possible, ideally within 1 week of being alerted that it is low on power. The IC655ACC550 lithium battery is capable of maintaining the voltage lever that is required for the PLC’s CMOS RAM circuitry to keep operating in the event of a power failure. It connects to the internal circuitry of the CPU with a small cable. Because the IC655ACC550 lithium battery is located near the reset button in the CPU, the technicians who install it must make sure that cable does not run across the reset button, or it may cause the CPU to reset unintentionally if the technicians close the door and the cable gets pressed against the reset button.
