The IC670MDL740 output module is a DC positive output module manufactured by GE Fanuc. It consists of 16 sourcing type discrete outputs that switch the loads to the positive side of the DC supply. The required power for the module is supplied by the Bus interface unit or BIU’s power supply. The IC670MDL740 output module also has the facilities to connect an external power supply through a 5-Amp fuse. It offers individual LEDs for each output point on the logic side and they are visible through the transparent portion of the top plate of the module. The outputs can switch the load within the range of 10 to 30 Volts DC with a nominal voltage of 24 Volts DC and 4 Amps of maximum current.
The IC670MDL740 output module comes with 9.2 to 29.5 Volts DC of output voltage range, 0.5 Amps of maximum output current per point, and 4 Amps of maximum output current per module. It draws 111 milliamps of current from the power supply in the BIU. The 5 Amps protection fuse which is located at the output points protects the module against incorrect polarity in the power supply and noise transients. Incorrect connections of the power supply may cause the fuse to blow, and the blown fuse must be replaced to avoid damages. The module also provides the facilities to detect whether the fuse is blown or not. The IC670MDL740 output module has keying locations that are labeled as the A, C, J, and K keying locations. It consists of optoisolators that isolate the field output from the logic components of the module.
