The IC670MDL643 DC input module is a positive/negative input module designed by GE Fanuc. It provides 16 discrete inputs that are arranged in 2 equal groups of 8 inputs each. Positive or negative logic can be used to drive the inputs. The IC670MDL643 DC positive/negative input module uses a 5 Volts DC or 12 Volts DC power supply as the external power source. The logic power of the module is supplied by the power supply in the bus interface module. The input characteristics of the IC670MDL643 DC input module include 1K Ohms of typical input impedance, 2.5 milliamps to 16 milliamps of on-state current, 0 to 0.3 milliamps of off-state current, and 300 microseconds of on-state response time.
The IC670MDL643 DC positive/negative input module comes with optional keying locations labeled with the letters A, B, G, and H. It has a network of resistors, diodes, and capacitors for providing input filtering and establishing thresholds. The data buffer of the module stores the data which is sent from 16 inputs and then converts it into a serial format before sending it to the bus interface unit. The bus interface unit reads the filtered and converted signals and processes them inside the unit itself. Each input group consists of 8 inputs and each group can have different logic levels such as +5 Volts DC and -12 Volts DC. Depending on the connection of the power supply, the positive or negative operation of the module can be selected. Each input point has individual indicator LEDs and their status is clearly visible through the transparent portion of the top plate on the module.
