The GE Fanuc IC670MDL642 module is a 125 Volts DC positive/negative input module. There is a single group of 16 discrete inputs on the IC670MDL642 module. These 16 inputs can be driven by positive logic or by negative logic. The range of input voltage is 0 to 150 Volts DC. The rated input current is 2.5 milliamps at 125 Volts DC. The input to logic isolation is 250 Volts AC continuous. No isolation is available between individual points in a group. The IC670MDL642 module draws a minimum of 77 milliamps of current from the power supply. The input characteristics include 40 kiloohms of input impedance, 0.3 milliamps to 3 milliamps of on-state current, 0 to 0.5 milliamps of off-state current, 6 milliseconds of typical on response time, and 13 milliseconds of typical off response time.
The I670MDL642 module draws power from the bus unit interface. The power for the input devices that drive the inputs on the module is drawn from an external 125 Volts DC power supply. LEDs are provided for each input and they indicate the logic state of the respective inputs. The PWR LED on the module is switched on when power is being supplied to the module from the backplane. A network of zener diodes, capacitors, and resistors is required to establish input thresholds and provide input filtering. Isolation between the logic components and field inputs is provided through the optoisolators. Parallel to serial converters convert the input data that is stored in the buffer into a serial format as required by the bus interface unit. While the IC670MDL642 module supports both positive and negative inputs, all of the 16 module inputs must be the same type in order to operate.
