The GE Fanuc Special Functions Modules are specialized modules that are used for safety applications and other non-standard functions within an RSTi-EP station or PLC. The Special Functions Modules include 24 Volts rated safe power-feed modules for the output current that can provide 1 or 2 inputs with 2 channels each for use as safety circuits. These modules use what is known as “double click installation,” because they are easy to click securely into place on a DIN Rail and easy to click securely into place side by side with other modules being used in the RSTi-EP station. Both types of connections will produce audible clicks when the Special Functions Modules are fit properly into place. Some of the Special Functions Modules support positive logic.

The types of modules that are included in the GE Fanuc Special Functions Modules series include PWM output modules, high-speed counter modules, frequency measurement modules, serial communications modules, and SSI encoder, BCD, or gray-code format modules. Most of these modules support spring-style connections. The Special Functions Modules have flammability ratings of V-0 and environmental protection ratings of IP 20. These modules should not be exposed to condensation, moisture, large quantities of dust and debris, or corrosive substances. The operating temperature range for the Special Functions Modules is from -20 to 60 degrees Celsius or -4 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, and the storage temperature range is from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius or -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. The Special Functions Modules can tolerate 5 to 95% non-condensing relative humidity levels in both operation and storage.
