The GE Fanuc EP-2814 module is a solid-state digital relay output module with 4 positive logic type discrete outputs. The outputs are controlled by 4 semiconductor switches, each with current ratings of 0.5 Amps at 255 Volts AC. It has a fast switching speed of 10 milliseconds and its maximum switching frequency is 20 Hertz.
The EP-2814 output module is a solid-state relay output module from the GE Fanuc intelligent platforms. It is one of the digital output modules available from GE’s extensive range of RSTi-EP output modules that are used in industrial control and automation applications. It comes with 4 positive logic-type discrete outputs that are controlled by 4 semiconductor switches, each with a maximum current rating of 0.5 Amps at 255 Volts AC. The switching characteristics of the semiconductor switch indicate that it is closed when the voltage reaches zero and open when the current reaches zero. It features a fast switching speed of 10 milliseconds and its maximum switching frequency can reach up to 20 Hertz. The device has no short-circuit protection, so an external fuse with a very fast-acting trip behavior and a 1-Amp current rating is recommended.
The GE Fanuc EP-2814 output module requires a voltage rating of 20.4 to 28.8 Volts to operate, and its current consumption rating from the system current path is 11 milliamps. The IEC 61131-2 standard specifies an operating temperature range of -20 to 60 degrees Celsius and non-condensing ambient humidity levels ranging from 5% to 95% for the safe and efficient operation of the module. Each of the module’s connector blocks has 4 wiring connectors that are color-coded for ease of wiring. The EP-2184 output module can be used with a wide range of industrial RSTi network adapters, including the Profibus, PROFINET, EtherCat, and Modbus TCP adapters. These network adapters can each serve as the head module for the RSTi-EP communication bus, to which up to 64 RSTi-EP modules such as the EP-2814 output module can be connected simultaneously. It is recommended to use surge protection terminals with a varistor to protect the relay module from high-level disturbances.
