The Digital Inputs are input modules manufactured by GE Fanuc are active I/O modules that can come with 2, 4, 8, or 16 channels. The Digital Inputs are meant to be connected to the Fieldbus network adapter in a programmable logic controller system because they and the digital outputs in the system will communicate all of their data through the network adapter. Although the network adapter is made to be Fieldbus specific, the Digital Inputs are not because they are made to be independent of the Fieldbus and usable with most GE Fanuc PLC fieldbus devices. Depending on the amount of data that is being transferred by the Fieldbus, up to 64 active I/O modules like the Digital Inputs can be connected to a GE Fanuc RSTi-IP station at a time.
