The GE Fanuc GFK-0499D is an operator interface of version D of CIMPLICITY 90-ADS which runs on the software for series 90-70 and series 90-30. The CIMPLICITY 90-ADS is characterized by two serial ports for connecting to external devices. Port 1 is used for connecting to a personal computer or to a printer. Port 2 is used for connecting to a display device, which acts as the terminal device for the system. In series 90-70, the module for ADC can be placed either in the main rack or the expansion rack, whereas for series 90-30, it must be placed in CPU base plate.
The GFK-0499D ADS mainly consists of two major components—the PC based builder and the ADS based executor. Only the executor component is required to execute complete system. The lithium battery is installed to maintain user memory when the PLC is switched off. Two LED indicators are mounted on the ADC board to indicate the activity of the serial ports. Also, the restart/reset push button is located on the ADC board. The terminal device is set up using GE Fanuc monochrome or GE Fanuc mini touch OIT. The operator interface product menu is utilized to access the utility programs of the Alphanumeric display system. The function of the ADS setup is to select major components of the ADS that need to be configured execution or the development environment.
The main advantages of using GFK-0499D are its low cost and ease of operating even. Also, data entry is very simple and the screen displays a simple built-in text editor that does not require programming. Hence, it can be used in applications like Megabasic or Optibasic which do not require high level graphics.
