The Cognex DVT 550 sensor is a vision sensor which offers 6 times the processing speed of the older Cognex DVT 515 sensor. It is part of the DVT vision sensor product line which is designed to ensure quality control in manufacturing, provide application information, and gathering data. The DVT 550 vision sensor offers the highest speed grayscale CCD available with a 640 x 480 resolution. The size of the CCD sensor is 4.8 x 3.6 millimeters. The sensor comes with 128 MB of RAM and 16 MB of flash. The acquisition rate supported by the sensor is 75 frames per second. The DVT 550 vision sensor supports partial image acquisition. The protection rating of the image sensor is IP 51. The display option supported by the DVT 550 vision sensor is the SmartLink to VGA display.
The Cognex DVT 550 sensor supports 8 triggers or high-speed outputs, I/O breakout or expansion modules, and Ethernet I/O. The communications options available on the DVT 550 vision sensor include Ethernet and RS-232 communication with an optional Ethernet to serial converter. Integrated LED lighting is available on the DVT 550 vision sensor. The vision tools supported by the DVT 550 vision sensor include preprocessing, measurement, counting, positioning, identification (modeling), flaw detection, and script and reader tools (1D, 2D, OCR/OCV). The voltage requirement of the DVT 550 vision sensor is 24 Volts DC and the maximum current draw, excluding the lighting, is 300 milliamps. The maximum recommended ambient temperature is 45 degrees Celsius. The DVT 550 vision sensor is approved by the CE standards. The DVT 550 vision sensor includes the Intellect software which can be used for defect detection, OCR operation, positioning, and the detection of the presence or absence part presence. The Intellect software can also be used to set up programmable tools to accommodate the user needs.
