Allen-Bradley developed the 2098-DSD-005X, a member of the Ultra 3000 series indexing servo drive that supports serial real-time communication system (SERCOS) for communication with SERCOS-capable servo motors. This drive has an indexing function that allows the operator to design a pre-set motion path for a standardized process. This is used in processes or systems that have repetitive procedures or actions or in products that have uniform parameters. The 2098-DSD-005X features 8 optically isolated 12-24 volts active high-current sinking digital inputs and 4 optically isolated 12-24 volts current-sourcing digital outputs, as well as 1 N.O. output (with 30V DC, max, 1-amp). It also features an analog output with a +/-10V range, a maximum current of 2 milliamps, and an 8-bit resolution. The drive interacts through a single RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 serial port and a CN3, 9-pin female D-sub serial port connection, with communication rates ranging from 1200 to 38,400 bits per second. This drive operates on an input supply voltage of 100-240VAC; it has a continuous output current of 2.5 amps and an intermittent output current of 7.5 amps, with a continuous output power of 0.25 kW at 115VAC and 0.5 kW at 230VAC input. The 2098-DSD-005X has a functional temperature range of 0 to 55 degrees Centigrade (32 to 131 F) at 5-95% non-condensing relative humidity. It is designed to operate optimally at a height of 1500 meters (4921.5 feet) without de-rating and can endure a 15G operational shock and a 2.5G vibration at 10-200 hertz. The 2098-DSD-005X measures 98.1mm in height, 32.77mm in width, and 65.02mm in depth, weighing around 1.8 kg.
