Other Available Revisions for the 1747-UIC 1747-UIC//A
The Allen-Bradley 1747-UIC is from the SLC 500 group of processors. The 1747-UIC is a Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface converter. It increases the connectivity options of the DH-485 to SLC-500 and MicroLogix controllers. The 1747-UIC enhances the connection of SLC-500, MicroLogix, ControlLogix controllers, PanelView terminals, 1747-AIC and 1761-NET-AIC isolators through the DH-485 port using a computer USB port. With the 1747-UIC, there is no need for the PIC/AIC+ DH-485 driver to be installed in RSLinx as it has the DH-485 embedded.
The 1747-UIC comes with one RJ-45 connector for connecting the SLC-500, 5/01, 5/02, 5/03, AIC, and PanelView products with the DH-485 port. It uses the standard DF1 communication channel to interface with RSLinx through the COMMON port to USB redirector. The 1747-UIC uses the RS-232 DB9 to connect to channel 0 on SLC 5/03, AIC+, MicroLogix, CompactLogix, FlexLogic, ControlLogix and PanelView products with RS-232 ports. The 1747-UIC is powered through the computer USB with no need of an external power supply. The USB cable is 12 inches. Additionally, three LED lights on the 1747-UIC show the communication status.
Only one 1747-UIC should be connected to the computer at any given time. When using the USB cable to connect the 1747-UIC, make sure you suppress the electromagnetic emission and interference by using a ferrite collar. The collar must be placed between the cable ties on the USB cable where the cable exits. To avoid electrostatic damage on the 1747-UIC interface converter, make sure you connect it to a grounded DH-485 device before plugging the USB cable into the computer’s USB port.
