The Allen-Bradley 1747-PT1 is a hand-held terminal. Although it is part of the SLC-500 family of programmable memories, the 1747-PT1 is a complete unit which is ready for use. It provides programming, monitoring, configuring and troubleshooting functions to SLC-500 processors. Being in the SLC-500 family, it has robust features exhibited by members of this family. The 1747-PT1 has a display that accommodates 8 lines, 40 characters, and a total of 30 keys. The operating temperature for the 1747-PT1 ranges between 0-40 degrees Celsius (32-104 degrees Fahrenheit) and storage temperature for the 1747-PT1 ranges between -20-65 degrees Celsius (-4-149 degrees Fahrenheit).
The 1747-PT1 operates at a power range of 0.102A at 24V DC. The 1747-PT1 is compatible only with the fixed SLC 5/01 and 5/02 processors. For easier communication, the DH-485 protocol is supported. The RS-485 and DH-485 protocols are similar except the DH-485 accommodates even more communication channels than the RS-485. Make sure to wear a grounding strap when installing the Memory Pak since it contains CMOS devices that are sensitive to electrostatic charges. The Memory Pak should be set before installing the battery. The communication cable and the Memory Pak for the 1747-PT1 are supplied separately. The 1747-C10 cable can be used to connect the 1747-PT1 to the controller. On one end, the 1747-C10 (marked) connects to the top of the 1747-PT1, and on the other end it connects to the communication port on the SLC 500 controller.
