The Allen-Bradley 1747-PCIL is a Chassis Interface Module that is part of the SLC 500 product family. The 1747-PCIL operates with the PCI Bus card and a connecting cable to create the 1747 PCI Bus Interface. One of the features of the interface module is a three-position user-selectable switch. It can be set in any of the positions as defined by your application. There are also three jumpers on the 1747-PCIL which include the Last State Jumper, the User Jumper, and the Watchdog Jumper with a Watchdog Connector that is internally connected to the Watchdog Jumper. The Last State Jumper determines the state of I/O in case of communication failures. The two settings available for the Last State Jumper when communication with the scanner is lost are Last State (when the module will hold the last state) and Reset (when the module will reset). The Watchdog Connector is a solid-state switch with a voltage range of 4.5V-26.4V dc. To use the external watchdog an external power supply is required. The normal state for the watchdog output is off-status. It turns on in cases of watchdog timeouts due to internal hardware failure. This will be indicated by a red LED.
To connect a PCI Bus Card to the 1747-PCIL, connect one end of a 1747-PCIC cable to the module and the other end to the scanner. The chassis interface module has an LED template that can be easily removed from the adapter. Users can set the LED positions for their application and put the display back in place on the module.
