The 1747-M1 by Allen Bradley is a Memory Device, specifically used to store both programs and data tables and to provide the user with easy access to them. For fixed the SLC, the SLC 5/01, and the SLC 5/02 programmable controllers, the 1747-M1 unit provides EEPROM 8 kilobyte 1,000 instruction word user memory. The module itself has a total memory of 64000 words; since its primary function is as a memory device, it does have a flash backup memory in case its memory faults.
The entire module’s programs can be scanned in about 0.9 milliseconds, while the I/O themselves take only 0.0225 milliseconds to scan. In total this unit has 3 I/O chassis with 30 module slots. Its backplane current is 1 Amp at 5 Volts DC and 175 milliamps at 24 Volts DC, and it has a communication system consisting of Ethernet and RS-232 ports.
For safety reasons, this module’s power supply must be completely shut off prior to the installation of this unit, to avoid damage to the unit and faults in the processor. Additionally, this terminal should be held only at the very edges of the plastic housing to bring it into the least possible contact with skin and oils. This unit should not be exposed to electrostatic charges, as these may do irreversible damage to this processor’s memory.
