The Allen-Bradley 1747-L543 is one of the powerful processors from the SLC 500 product family. The 1747-L543 processor is flexible, offering a wide range of I/O channels, memory, ports, and instruction sets. This facilitates meeting the exact needs of a given application. Being among the family of SLC 5/04 processors, the processor offers a memory capacity of 16K, 32K, or 64K words. The 1747- L543 itself has 30 I/O module slots, 4096 input ports and output ports, and up to 64K memory. It has standard battery-backed RAM and backup flash memory. The 1747- L543 has a power load of 1A at 5V DC and 0A at 24V DC. The processor features LED indicators that provide status information for forced I/O, RS-232, DH+, CPU fault, and Run. The average program scan time of the 1747-L543 is 0.9 ms/K and the typical I/O scan time is 0.225 ms. In case of power loss, the processor has a program scan hold-up time, dependent on the power load, ranging from 20 ms to 3 seconds. Additionally, the processor has a built in DH+ port for communications with other processors, terminals, and interfaces, and a built in RS‐232‐C communications port. The DH+ is beneficial because it is up to 3 times faster than the DH-485.
When installing the 1747- L543, you should take caution for electrostatic charges as they can damage the on-board memory. Additional care should be taken to prevent overheating by removing the wrapping before operation. The 1747-L543 must be inserted into the left slot (slot 0) to function properly. Never connect or disconnect any module with the power applied.
