The Allen-Bradley 1747-DPS2 is an SLC 500 Configurable Port Splitter. It provides a full function port for two-way communication between the controller and the local network. It also facilitates network port configuration to allow communication with DF1 half-duplex, DF1 radio modem, DF1 full duplex or DH-485 networks. Its communication ports are fully isolated so external isolation is not required. The 1747-DPS2 splits the splintering capability of a single RS-232/DF1 Duplex communication port into two individual ports allowing simultaneous connection with two separate external devices.
The 1747-DPS2 requires a 24V DC external power supply with 100mA sourcing, which also provides voltage isolation. The port splitter uses available 2711, 2706, 1761, 1756, and 1747 cables for connectivity. The 1747-DPS2 can be connected to a controller using the male 9-pin D-shell communication port. Whenever a connection becomes established it adjusts the Baud rate (transfer rate) to 38.4 kbps or 19.2 kbps depending on the Baud rate of the controller.
Prior to mounting the 1747-DPS2 on the DIN rail, the DIP switches must be set. Do not disconnect this splitter unless power is removed to avoid injury. Avoid touching connectors or pins on component boards to prevent electrostatic damage. Troubleshooting the 1747-DPS2 is easy with the four status indicators that are present. Additionally, the 1747-DPS2 is c-UL-us, CE and C-Tick certified. The port splitter operates best between 0-60 degrees Celsius (32-140 degrees Fahrenheit) at 5-95% relative humidity non-condensing.
