The Allen-Bradley 1747-DPS1 RS-232 DF1 port splitter for the SLC 500/PLC-5/micrologix controller is part of the Allen-Bradley PLC SLC 500 series. The 1747-DPS1 needs an external power source and uses Allen-Bradley programming cables. The 1747-DPS1 can support a single RS-232/DF1 full-duplex communication port on a controller that is split into 2 ports by external devices for communication purposes. The port splitter can easily interact with the SLC 500, PLC-5, Micrologix, ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and FlexLogix controllers. An external source is essential for the1747-DPS1 RS-232 DF1 port splitter.
 
 
For the 1747-DPS1 RS-232 DF1 port splitter, if a 1761-CBL-HM02 or a 1761-CBL-AM00 cable is used for 1 of the above modules, the 1747-DPS1 network port can source power from the port splitter’s external power supply. The port splitter for a 1747-DSN1 device provides 1 network port for a 2-way communication between a local network and the controller provided to the port splitter is connected to a controller. For the second port for the 1747-DPS1, the RS-232 DF1 function is respond only. The second port can only run an HMI (human machine interface) or programming terminals. Both ports for a 1747-DPS1 network port and a respond-only programming terminals port or HMI are DF1 full-duplex and use 19.2 KBPS. Both network ports for a 1747-DPS1 RS-232 DF1 have 8 data bits and 1 stop bit.
