The Allen-Bradley 1747-ACN15 SLC 500 is part of the Allen Bradley PLC series. The item name for the 1747-ACN15 SLC 500 is “adapter I/O module”. The 1747-ACN15 I/O series of adapter modules can be operated by both PLC and SLC processors. In order for remote control to be possible, however, the 1747-ACN15 requires a scanner module to be installed in the local chassis, then using a ControlNet network to facilitate remote communication. Additionally, the 1747-ACN15 contains a single-port non redundant media or a redundant-media ControlNet I/O adapter module.

The 1747-ACN15 adapter module from Allen-Bradley is a ControlNet SLC 500 series adapter module. It can control I/O modules from the Allen-Bradley 1746 product line remotely through the ControlNet network. ControlNet is an industrial communication network that can be used by devices that meet the CI specifications to exchange messages. Key features of the 1747-ACN15 adapter module include diagnostics messages, high-speed data transfers, and a network access port or NAP through which local communication networks can be accessed. The major components of the 1747-ACN15 adapter module include its LED status indicators for the ControlNet network, the network access port, the status display screen, its ControlNet connector, and its module net address switch assemblies.
The Allen-Bradley 1747-ACN15 ControlNet adapter module connects to the ControlNet network with connectors that are known as taps. Different kinds of taps are available and they include straight T-taps, straight Y-taps, right-angle T-taps, and right-angle Y-taps. The 1747-ACN15 adapter module can either make an individual connection to a single I/O module or a rack connection to several I/O modules at a time. However, when it is connected to multiple modules through a rack connection, the system must contain only 1 scanner that controls the outputs on the modules in the rack system. This module can be installed in Slot 0 in its chassis. The 1747-ACN15 adapter module is designed to resist interference from electrical noise, but it should be protected from electrical noise as much as possible nonetheless. It can be protected with an enclosure and by grounding.
The Allen-Bradley 1747-ACN15 adapter module from the ControlNet series allows CI-compliant industrial devices to send messages through the ControlNet network. It can handle high-speed data transfers.
