The Allen-Bradley 1746-SIM is an input simulator module. It is recommended for use on sourcing and sinking modules that have 16 channels and a voltage of 24V DC with replaceable terminal blocks. To simulate the inputs in an SLC 500 system, the 1746-SIM has 16 switches. The module performs optimally when used with the 1746-IN16, 1746-ITV16, 1746-IV16, 1746-ITB16 and 1746-IB16 modules. The effects of using the 1746-SIM input simulator with other modules are not tested and may therefore damage the module, damage other devices in the system, or harm personnel.
The 1746-SIM is rated to be used in environments with a non-condensing humidity that ranges from 5 to 95%. The module must be stored in environments with a minimum temperature of -40 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 85 degrees Celsius. The 1746-SIM can operate within temperatures not exceeding 60 degrees Celsius and not less than 0 degrees Celsius. The 1746-SIM has a vibration (operating) rating of 2g at between 10 and 500 Hz.
The module is certified to be used in environments that are not hazardous and which are specified in Group A, B, C, D, and Class I, Division 2 ratings. The 1746-SIM is a low-voltage input simulator module that is tested to ensure that it conforms to the EEC (73/23) standards. The 1746-SIM is powered through a 24V power supply which is connected to Terminals A and B on the module. The 1746-SIM is installed in the Input/Output chassis where it occupies a single slot. The module uses a removable terminal block to manage the wiring process when replacing the input simulator.
