The Allen-Bradley 1746-RT25C removable terminal block is an SLC 500 series general purpose RTB. It is orange in color, it has gold-plated contacts, and it works with relay output modules. It has 16 input/output points and a maximum of 18 terminals. This terminal block is compatible with modules in the Allen-Bradley 1746 series which includes the OX8 and the OW16 modules. Be sure to check the module for the orange color band, because the module’s circuitry can be damaged if the wired terminal block that is installed is not compatible.
Rewiring is not necessary when working with the 1746-RT25C RTB. Its self-lifting pressure plates facilitate secure wiring and its barriers on the 3 sides aid in protecting it from short circuits that may occur in the wiring. Do not remove the 1746-RT25C terminal block or install it if the SLC 500 system is powered on; otherwise, this may result in damage to the equipment and possible personal injury.
Installing the Allen-Bradley 1746-RT25C RTB is as easy as aligning the release screws with the matching connector on the module. When they are aligned, press the terminal block onto the connector’s contacts firmly. Then, tighten each of the release screws. To prevent the terminal block from cracking, alternate between screws when tightening them. The 1746-RT25C can function at a temperature range between 0 degrees Celsius and 80 degrees Celsius. It is also unaffected if installed in environments with up to 300V of electricity. It weighs 2.5 pounds (1.1 kilograms) and measures 3.6 by 5.5 by 5.7 inches in size.
