The Allen-Bradley 1746-P5 is an SLC 500 power supply. It has an average input of 125V and a range of 18-30V DC output. Its dimensions are 140 x 85 x 145mm. The 1746-P5 is used to supply external DC power to SLC 5/05 Ethernet Processors. These include the 1747-L551, 1747-L552, and 1747-L553 models. The 1746-P5 should be installed to the left of the I/O chassis. There is no need to do jumper selection since the power supply does not have jumpers. Be sure to switch off incoming power prior to wire connection to prevent damage to equipment and injury to the installer.
The 1746-P5 delivers +24V DC PWR OUT and PWR OUT COM terminals to provide power to 24V DC loads. The terminals located on the 1746-P5 SLC 500 Power Supply provide an isolated, non-fused 200mA, 24V DC power supply. The ideal operating temperature for this power supply is from 0-60 degrees Celsius (32-140 degrees Fahrenheit).
One power supply is able to carry one chassis. You are able to monitor its operation using the built-in LED indicator. When the 1746-P5 Power Supply receives too much current, it will shut down while the CPU continues to work. To get it back up, the current needs to be stabilized. When the current that is supplied is too little, the power supply will remain operating for a short time. If the low voltage lasts longer than the holdup time, the 1746-P5 will shut off.
