The Allen-Bradley 1746-OW8 is a contact output module from the SLC 500 family. It features 2 sets of 4 outputs, giving it a total of 8 relay contact outputs. It has 4 output points per common. Its thermal dissipation is 0.138W per point, with a minimum dissipation of 2.59W, and a maximum of 3.7W. The 1746-OW8 draws a backplane current of 85mA at 5V and 90mA at 24V. It operates with an AC/DC voltage category. The 1746-OW8 has a voltage range (operating) of 5-125V DC or 5-265V AC, a 10ms signal delay for both ON and OFF (maximum resistive load) and a 16A continuous current per module on AC and 8A per common.
The 1746-OW8 is certified by CSA for use in Class 1, Division 2 hazardous locations. It is rated to be operated in environments with a relative humidity level of between 5 and 95%, non-condensing. It is best stored at temperatures between -40 and 85 degrees Celsius. It should be operated in environments with temperatures between -25 and 60 degrees Celsius. At 10-500Hz the 1746-OW8 can accommodate a vibration of 2g and a shock of 30g when still in operation. This module is suitable for use in an industrial setting with a pollution level less than Pollution 2. (This level is outlined in EN/IEC0664-1). With the help of LED lights, the status of each output point can be monitored, easing the process of troubleshooting. A color band is available on the front panel of the 1746-OW8 to help in matching a removable terminal block to the right module. The removable terminal blocks are also color-coded to increase the accuracy.
