About 1746-OB16
The 1746-OB16 module is an I/O module from the Allen-Bradley SLC 500 product line. The 1746-OB16 module is a DC output module which features electronic protection against current overload and short circuit conditions. This protection is based on a thermal cut-out principle: when an overload or short circuit occurs on any particular output channel, the module will limit the current on that channel within milliseconds once the temperature threshold has been reached. Channels without overload or short circuit conditions will continue to operate normally. The 1746-OB16 module does not support reverse polarity protection or protection against wiring to AC power sources. The electronic protection on the 1746-OB16 module is not intended to be a replacement for standard protection devices such as fuses and circuit breakers.In addition to electronic protection which limits the channel current, the 1746-OB16 module also supports the auto reset of channels on which the current has been limited after an overload or short circuit has occurred. The E-Fuse LED on the module’s front panel lights up when an overload or short circuit occurs. The rated heat dissipation per output point on the 1746-OB16 module is 0.388 Watts.
