The Allen Bradley 1746-NR4 is an analog input module (RTD/resistance) with four inputs belonging to the SLC 500 series. The 1746-NR4 consumes a backplane current of 50 mA at 5 or 24 Volts. Its input types are platinum (100, 200, 500 or 1000 ohms) 385, platinum (100, 200, 500 or 1000 ohms) 3916, Copper (10 ohms)(426), 120 ohm nickel (618/672), 604 ohms nickel-iron ()518), 150, 500, 1000 and 3000 ohms resistance input.
The 1746-NR4 has a selectable temperature of one degree and 0.1 degree Celsius and a selectable filter frequency of 10 to 250 Hertz. The 1746-NR4 uses a maximum of 25 Ohms per 308.4 meters cable impedance. For data formats, the 1746-NR4 is compatible with raw/proportional, engineering units, engineering units x 10 and scaled-for-PID formats. The 1746-NR4 self-calibrates at power up and/or when a channel is enabled; it also has a user-calibration option.
The 1746-NR4 has an input to backplane isolation voltage of 500 Volts AC tested for 1 minute. About 1746-NR4
The Allen-Bradley 1746-NR4 module is an RTD/resistance input module. It is part of the SLC 500 product line. The module receives and stores analog data from resistance inputs and RTD units. The received analog data is first converted to digital data before being stored in the image table of the I/O module. Modular SLC processors can access the image table of the 1746-NR4 module and retrieve the stored information. Four channels are available on the 1746-NR4 input module. A small current is supplied to each RTD unit that is connected to the inputs on the module. On-board scaling is applied by the module which converts RTD inputs to temperature reports or reports the measured resistance in ohms. Open or short circuit broken sensor detection is supported by the 1746-NR4 module. The module can also detect if an input signal is out of range.The rated backplane current consumption of the Allen-Bradley 1746-NR4 input module is 50 milliamps at 5/24 Volts DC. The power consumption rating is 0.3 Watts at 5 Volts DC and 1.2 Watts at 24 Volts DC. External power supply connections are not required. The analog to digital conversion method used on the 1746-NR4 module is sigma-delta modulation. The maximum allowed permanent overload is +/-5 Volts DC for voltage and +/-5 milliamps for current. The module performs automatic calibration when either a channel is enabled or when changes are made to the module input type, excitation current, or filter frequency. No isolation is available between the input channels on the module. The maximum recommended termination wire size is two 14 AWG wires per terminal.
