The Allen-Bradley 1746-IV16 is an SLC 500 Digital DC Input Module with a 10-30V DC Source range. This current sourcing DC input module works with general purpose DC inputs applications. The module has 16 inputs and 16 points per common. A maximum of 8 actuators and sensors from various applications can be connected to the 1746-IV16. The input module receives data that has been converted to digital format and stores it in its data image table, allowing access to all fixed and modular SLC 500 processors. SLC 500 processors using Ladder Programming Logic are able to access the module input values.
The 1746-IV16 saves space and cost by using a hardware platform that is sharing-based and has a variety of analog and digital input/output combinations. One of the benefits of the 1746-IV16 is the removable terminal block feature which eliminates the need for the user to rewire during configuration, thus making module replacement easier. The module is also designed to make troubleshooting more simple with the presence of LED indicators on the front panel to signal operational status. Backplane current load for the module at 5V is 85mA. The off-state current maximum is at 5V DC is 1mA. The nominal current input stands at 24V DC is 8mA, and the maximum current dissipation is 3.6 W. The 1746-IV16 has a signal delay of 0.5 ms during off-state and 0.3 ms during on-state. The 1746-IV16 operates optimally at temperatures ranging from 0-60 degrees Celsius (32-140 degrees Fahrenheit) with a relative noncondensing humidity ranging from 5-95%.
