The Allen-Bradley 1746-HSCE is a High-Speed Counter Module for SLC 500 systems. The SLC 500 family offers flexibility and efficiency by using a wide range of features and options, which allows you maximize your productivity and revenue while leveraging your existing equipment. The 1746-HSCE can be used with SLC 5/02 and higher processors. Counting for high speed inputs from quadrature encoders and various high-speed switches for the 1746-HSCE is bidirectional. By accepting pulse frequencies of up to 50k Hz through a single channel, this module allows for precise control of high-speed motion. The 1746-HSCE has an accumulated count and provides Rate Measurement in Hz. It determines rate measurement using a fixed period of time. This Rate Period ranges from 10 milliseconds to 2.55 seconds and is dynamic.
The 1746-HSCE has 3 modes to choose from including Range, Rate, and Sequencer, allowing you to choose the mode that works best for your application. There are 4 open collector outputs for additional control outside the SLC processor. The maximum input frequency is 50 kHz. The 1746-HSCE requires power in the form of 5V DC and 24V DC which it gets from the backplane of the SLC controller, drawing 320mA of 5V current and 0mA of 24V current. Never change or disconnect components without turning the power supply off.
The 1746-HSCE operates at temperatures from 0-60° C (32-140° F) with a relative humidity of 5-95% noncondensing.
